What does Embedded Font Studio do?

Displays for Arduino and ESP32 boards can't use normal .ttf font files directly — they need fonts pre-converted into a compact pixel format. This tool does that conversion in your browser: pick a font and size, choose which characters you need, and download a file your display library can use (VLW for TFT_eSPI/M5GFX, or an LVGL font).

Which file do I download for TFT_eSPI?

Download the .h file to compile the font straight into your sketch (simplest — no filesystem needed), or the .vlw file to load it from LittleFS or an SD card. Remember to enable #define SMOOTH_FONT in User_Setup.h.

Is it free and does my font get uploaded anywhere?

It's completely free with no account needed, and nothing is uploaded — parsing, rendering and converting all happen inside your browser. The only network requests fetch fonts from Google Fonts when you pick one.

Does it support LVGL and M5Stack?

Yes. It exports LVGL C-array fonts (bpp 1/2/4/8, compatible with lv_font_conv) and VLW smooth fonts that work with M5Stack/M5GFX loadFont() as well as TFT_eSPI.
